A suspect terrorist was arrested in Kenya on Tuesday night by security personnel during a mob up operation targeting Somali aliens hiding in the country from the war-torn state in the horn of Africa. The suspect aged 35, was picked up by police from a lodge in the remote district of Ijara in the north-eastern region of Kenya. The suspected terrorist is a Dutch national with Somali extraction and was apprehended at 8pm by the police whilst hiding in a lodge and making calls to unknown people informing them on the situation in the area.

The Police Commanding Officer Ijara Division, Mr. Rems Warui, said the Somali suspected terrorist was arrested in the lodge where he has been for more than two days since his arrival in the area. The police chief said documents in the possessions of the suspect including passport indicates he is of Netherlands Nationality, but born in Mogadishu originally and he was in the town to visit non-existent relatives. “During our random swoops in the lodges in the area, we came across this suspicious person and we picked him up for interrogations” the OCPD told Newstime Africa by phone.

Warui said when officers searched the luggage in the man’s possession, they found an unspecified amount of cash. “We found huge amount of cash in the domination of seven countries mostly European and two African countries stocked in his briefcase. We also found a mobile phone and digital camera” the police boss confirmed. The OCPD said they handed over the suspected terrorist to the anti-terrorist police unit in the provincial headquarters’ in Garissa to carry out more probe on his mission in the country.

Residents who share the lodge with the suspect for the two days claimed the man was frequently overheard speaking in Somali to other people, informing them that they should not come to the region since the situation is bad.

On September this year two suspected terrorists of Moroccan nationality believed to have been in the US most wanted list were arrested in Hullugho division some seventeen kilometres from the Somali border. On numerous occasions the dreaded Al-Shabaab Somali militia has threatened to attack Kenya and bring down into debris the tall glasses buildings in the Capital Nairobi saying that the neighbouring state was interfering with the internal affairs of Somalia, which has been without a functioning administration for nearly twenty years.
