Sierra Leonean residents in Guinea endorse President Ernest Bai Koroma for another political term in office

Massive welcome for President Koroma in Guinea

CONAKRY, GUINEA ­ – The Sierra Leonean community in Guinea has on Friday 14th October 2011, called on the Chairman and Leader of the All Peoples Congress (APC), President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma to continue with the good works he is doing for the people of Sierra Leone. “Nar you we want” meaning you are our choice of candidate and we want you as our President for a second term”, We need you for national development, peace and stability, agricultural the enhancement and food sufficiency, the rebranding of the country and, for your relentless fight against corruption”, declared Sierra Leoneans in Guinea. This vow of the unflinching support of Sierra Leone National Union in Guinea who is always working in close collaboration with the embassy and its staff, share and solve problems of citizens’ interest, resounded its confidence and trust in the leadership of President Koroma.

Chairman of the union Ibrahim Sorie Kamara disclosed in an interview with State House Communications Unit, that his organization and Sierra Leoneans in Guinea are now very much proud of leadership of President Koroma. He said they have sound a relationship with the hope office, in that there is no political divide amongst Sierra Leoneans in Guinea. Mr. Kamara reiterated;  “Everybody is impressed with the good works President Koroma and the rapid transformation of our country”. For Guinea based Sierra Leoneans, President Koroma is the only leader the country has ever produced that has marched his words with actions making Sierra Leoneans all over the world now feel proud of their country. President Koroma has enabled the citizenry benefit from the proceeds of the country’s resources. Therefore further unveiled plans underway to ensure that Sierra Leoneans in Guinea, participate fully in the upcoming 2012 elections through the normal democratic procedure.

Speaking to a crowd of Sierra Leoneans dressed in red and white PAC colours at the embassy in Conakry, President extended his profound gratitude to the people for their huge turn in recognition of his visit to Guinea. He thanked his counterpart and host, President Prof. Alpha Conde for the hospitalities accorded to him and his delegation. President Koroma said Sierra Leone and Guinea share common interests and citizens of both countries are the same people, but are divided by just a line. “Me and my brother, Prof. Alpha Conde have decided on wiping off divisional line between us, to ensure the free movement of our people with goods and service, maintain peace and security control the proliferation of small arms and light weapons and a whole lots of issues”, President Koroma reassured Sierra Leoneans in Guinea. He added Guineas have shown and demonstrated strong family ties between the Mano River Union sister states. President Koroma therefore encouraged citizens to put the country above everything else, as Sierra Leone is bigger than Sierra Leonean and that they are resided in the sister nation because of they are from Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone Embassy staff, President Koroma reaffirmed are at the mission to protect the interest of Sierra Leoneans in Guinea, hence called on all to work with liked minds and one spirit. Back home, the Head of State said government has fulfilled whatever was promised by the APC manifesto during 2007 presidential election, which now enable people to travel from Freetown to Conakry in less than three hours. “We don’t make empty promises and whatever we promise will be fulfilled in record time”, he said, and described the revamp of the road network linking the two countries as an indication of strong bilateral ties between the MRU sister states. He disclosed government’s position on curtailing political violence, saying tough actions have been taken against perpetrators of political violence in the country. The Sierra Leone Ambassador to Adikalie Foday Sumah expressed delight to the union for its cooperation with the embassy. The gathering brought together pupils and students from Sierra Leonean owned schools and tertiary institutions in Guinea, while the display of Sierra Leonean cultural heritage in the midst of drumming, singing and dancing with mask devils, formed the high point of the President Koroma’s meeting with the Sierra Leonean community in Guinea.
