Matt Damon on Oprah Winfrey News: I Still Have to Digest It

ET was at the star-studded screening of Matt Damon ‘s new documentary in New York City on Thursday night, where the star shared his thoughts on the news that Oprah Winfrey plans to end her show in 2011. "I just heard that and I’m shocked…," Damon said of the news. "But I’m sure that whatever she does will have a lasting and positive impact on American culture. She’s just an incredible human being, and I don’t think she’s going to disappear. It would be amazing to not have her in front of you every day in your living room…I still have to digest it. She’s done quite a bit, to say the least, over the last 25 years. She’s got to do what feels right for her. She’s certainly earned that right." Matt also told us about his new documentary, which is inspired by acclaimed historian Howard Zinn ‘s A People’s History of the United States and executive produced by Damon, Josh Brolin and Howard Zinn , among others.

Peter Bergman Dishes on his 20 Years on ‘The Young and the Restless’

Peter Bergman Dishes on his 20 Years on ‘The Young and the Restless’

On Nov. 27, it will have been 20 years ago that Peter Bergman made his debut on "The Young and the Restless" as Jack Abbott. Now he talks to ET about the rivalry between Jack and Victor Newman ( Eric Braeden ), soap-opera sluts, the MTV effect and why his soap has been No. 1 for so many years. ET : When you first joined "Y&R" did you have any idea that you would still be there 20 years later? Peter Bergman : Not a clue. As a matter of fact, I came from "All My Children," and on "All My Children" when you replaced someone … I replaced Terry Lester on "Y&R" … any replacements on "AMC" didn’t work. What I didn’t realize was what a success "Y&R" had made of their replacements: Melody Thomas Scott is a replacement; Jess Walton is a replacement. There are a few on the show that have been very successful. I figured I could make the job last six months if I worked really hard at it, and here we are 20 years later.

Jaycee Dugard’s Family: ‘Only One Story To Be Told’

Jaycee Dugard’s Family: ‘Only One Story To Be Told’

An adult filmmaker reportedly plans to make a movie based on the story of Jaycee Dugard , the alleged rape and kidnap victim who was reportedly held in the backyard of an Antioch, CA man’s home for 18 years. But a rep for Jaycee’s family tells ET that the idea is "exploitive, hurtful and breathtakingly unkind." "There is only one true and factual story to be told," a rep for the family tells ET. "If and when Jaycee and her family think it is appropriate, their story will be told by them, in a forum of their choosing with the respect and thoughtfulness they so deserve. Anyone else speculating about the details of such a personal hurt, for financial gain, is exploitive, hurtful and breathtakingly unkind." According to Sacramento TV station CBS 13, actor and adult filmmaker Shane Ryan , who is responsible for such adult titles as ‘Sex, Kids, Party’ and ‘Amateur Porn Star Killer’ has plans to make a film called ‘Abducted Girl: An American Sex Slave,’ telling the station, "We want to capture how sad this story is, but also how interesting. We’re trying to figure out a way to do that so it’s not exploitative."

John Mayer Talks About Teaming Up With Taylor Swift

John Mayer Talks About Teaming Up With Taylor Swift

ET has the latest… John Mayer ‘s highly anticipated Battle Studies , his first new album in three years, hits stores today and we have the music sensation talking about his all-new tracks and his team-up with Taylor Swift . "Keeping with the Tom Petty context, I’d written a song that was really straight up, melodic, to-the-point chorus and I was thinking that if I, in my little imagination, that I’m Tom Petty when I’m singing this song, then who’s Stevie Nicks ?" he tells the Fuse network. "And I’m very strange about getting other people to perform on my records because I want those records to be around forever and I don’t know what someone else is going to do in their life. I was confident that this was not a gimmick just to sell a record and that was evidence by her coming in and us having a great time in the studio. Where she is is just fantastic." Mayer goes on to say that he’s excited to play his new music for his fans — and to mix up some of his biggest hits.

A Blackout Leaves ‘NCIS” Case in the Dark

When an attempted robbery leaves a lieutenant dead and the entire city in a blackout, the "NCIS" team is called upon to figure out what happened — and they are forced to use old-fashioned methods. "It becomes a ‘Barney Miller’-like ’70s cop show, which none of us are particularly good at except for Gibbs [ Mark Harmon ], because Gibbs has got this grab bag full of ’70s stuff," Michael Weatherly , who stars as Tony DiNozzo, tells ET. The team is in the dark with no Internet, no phones, no elevator and no coffee or vending machines.
