A Federal High Court in Portharcourt has ordered popular Nollywood actress and former beauty queen, Ibinabo Fiberesima to pay over ten million naira as damages to the 2011/2012 Miss Earth Nigeria.

Justice Adolphus Enebeli ruled that Ibinabo Fiberesima breached the rights of Monachi Chineye when she replaced her as Nigeria’s representative in the final leg of the Miss Earth beauty pageant.

The judge held that Ms. Fiberesima who was the local organizer of the Miss Earth Nigeria beauty pageant was wrong for removing the crown from Monachi Chineye and giving it to one of the runner-ups who went on to represent Nigeria in the final competition abroad.

Meanwhile, Monachi Chineye who spoke to Newstime Africa shortly after the court verdict commended the judgment.  She said the Court has proven to be the last hope of common man.

It might interest you to know that Ibinabo Fiberesima is facing another legal battle in Lagos where she is convicted for manslaughter. She is seeking to get a lesser sentence from the five years she got for that crime.
