ADDIS ABABA (AA) – The Ethiopian government on Saturday announced a 33-46 percent salary increase to the country’s 1.3 million public servants.
“Those, who are in lower pay range, will get an increment of 46 percent whereas those in highest monthly salary bracket are awarded with 33 percent increment,” Minister of Finance and Economic Development Sufian Ahmed told a press briefing.
The salary increase will cost the government an additional $500 million every fiscal year, he added.
The increment took effect as of July 8.
