Michelle Obama, the wife of U.S. President Barack Obama has described the abduction of over 200 Nigerian school children by terror group, Boko Haram, as an unconscionable act. Mrs Obama who usually appears alongside the president during his weekly address, which is normally broadcast on radio with a video version made available online, said she and the president were outraged and heartbroken over the abduction of the girls by terror group Boko Haram. Mrs Obama delivered the address ahead of Mother’s day, to be celebrated in the U.S. on Sunday.
The First Lady also said, “What happened in Nigeria was not an isolated incident. It’s a story we see every day as girls around the world risk their lives to pursue their ambitions.” President Barack Obama has expressed determination to assist the Nigerian Authorities in whatever way possible to help free the abducted school girls. The British government has expressed similar sentiments and along with the Americans have sent a contingent of experts to the West African State to assist in freeing the girls.
Boko Haram is a loose arrangement of Islamic fanatics, whose crazy doctrine hinges on western education being forbidden across Nigeria. Boko Haram has in the past and continues to engage in a ruthless campaign of terror across the Nigerian state killing hundreds if not thousands of innocent people as they attempt push their daft and obtuse Islamist ideology down the throats of Nigerians. The Nigerian authorities now seem determined to flush them out wherever they find them.
