Malawi has sailed through to the second round of the Under-20Confederation of African Championship (CAF) after seeing off Botswana with a 3-1 goal aggregate.
The Flames, as Malawi is known, scored through Chawanangwa Kumwenda while the Zebras, as Botswana is called claimed a consolation goal through Onkabetse Makgantai.
The first encounter played in Blantyre, Malawi ended in a 1-1 draw and the visiting Tswanas had an advantage only that the Malawians although playing away in Botswana were too hot to handle during the return match.
With the win, Malawi plays DR Congo in the second round whose first leg games are scheduled for May 9 to 11 while the second leg games are scheduled for May 23 to 25.
Kumwenda also scored when Malawi played a strength testing match against South Africa at the Nike Football Training Centre in Pimville in Soweto South Africa last Saturday.
