Boston terror bomb blasts killed 3, injured 138

Boston terror bomb blastTwo horrific bomb blasts went off in the afternoon in Boston, near the finish line of the Boston Marathon – with three people confirmed dead and multiple injured on Monday, Boston law enforcement said.

“At 2:50 pm today, there were simultaneous explosions that occurred along the route of the Boston Marathon near the finish line.  These explosions occurred 50 -100 yards apart and each scene resulted in multiple causalities,” Boston Commissioner of Police, Ed Davis confirmed.

An 8-year-old was among the three dead; of the more than 138 injured, eight of them are kids with the youngest being three years old, CNN reported.

Davis said all of the victims were removed from the scene and transported to the hospital.  Police officers were also dispatched to get in touch with family members of the victims and witnesses.

The city immediately activated a response system put in place by the city and the federal government to deal with situations like this.

Earlier, people were cautioned to stay home and encouraged to provide any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect(s).

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are leading the investigation and would not comment on the number of explosives involved in this attack – as reports have been swirling around that up to five explosive devices were involved.

There is no one in custody at the moment, law enforcement said. But there are reports that several persons on interest are being looked at.

Unsubstantiated reports are emerging that: a Saudi national with a foreign accent and presently in the hospital with an injured leg, is being question by the police.

President Barack Obama said he has directed federal resources to help for the protection of the people after being briefed by the Homeland Security about the horrendous situation in Boston.

“We still do not know who did this or why. And people shouldn’t jump to conclusions before we have all the facts.  But, make no mistake: we will get to the bottom of this; and we will find out who this and will find out why they did this.  Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups will feel the full weight of justice,” Obama cautioned.
