All Works of Life (AWOL) Chairman, Amb. Anthony Navo Jnr., has challenged Sierra Leoneans to build their country into the Singapore of West Africa, by putting country before self.
Maintaining that AWOL was a non-political organization representing the green, white and blue, Amb. Navo said AWOL however supported positive initiatives by the government of the day towards nation building.
“This is because we put the interest of our country first above our individual interests. If we all do the same, we can build Sierra Leone into the Singapore of West Africa,” he said.
He said he was humbled, privileged and honoured to be the Chairman of AWOL during its 10th Anniversary celebration and catalogued his successes in his first year in office. He paid tribute to all who have supported AWOL in diverse ways over the years.
“As we mark our 10th year since AWOL started giving back to society and recognizing deserving Sierra Leoneans and institutions in an effort to promote hard work, diligence, patriotism and nation building, we also pay tribute to those people and institutions that believed in our cause from the beginning and have stood by us throughout as partners in development,” said Amb. Navo, making specific reference to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Ltd (SLCB), First International Bank (FIBank), NASSIT, National Revenue Authority (NRA), Africell SL Ltd., Airtel SL Ltd., SIERRATEL, and African Minerals SL Ltd. And above all, and most importantly, to His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, the Government and People of Sierra Leone.
Meanhwile, at the awards after party on Saturday 5th January 2012, at the Country Lodge, Hill Station, Freetown, Amb. Navo announced a couple of changes to his 2013 Executive as he sought to accomplish his set goals in his final year as AWOL Chairman.
