Lilongwe – US State Secretary Hillary Clinton is expected to make a brief visit to Malawi this weekend. She is expected to arrive on Sunday and leave thesame day after holding discussions with president Joyce Banda. Meanwhile, officials from both the United States Embassy in Lilongwe and Malawi Government have kept a tight lid on her agenda for the meeting. It is expected that the two will discuss the $350 million energy grant under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which was suspended but is now back on track after President Banda restored good governance and sound economic policies following a fall out between the world’s super power and Malawi former president Bingu wa Mutharika which led to the compact’s freeze.
International press report that Clinton will also visit South Africa on August 7 where she will hold talks with South African International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.
