It seems Korean tech giant, Samsung, was waiting until it releases its flagship Samsung Galaxy S3 handset before making available the much awaited ICS update for its extremely popular Galaxy Note. But the wait has been worth it. The Note which has been described as a Phablet by many tech reviewers, will see an improvement on its GUI and overall performance and possible better battery life. But the main highlight of the update is the much improved and new premium suite of applications that are designed exclusively for the Galaxy Note which includes the S Note Application, and a new S Memo one as well. The S Note is said to be a highly advanced note-taking and productivity tool that promises to change the way we record daily activities and write notes on our phones.
Samsung has done well recently in producing some fantastic products and its new Galaxy S3 handsets seems to be more versatile than the recently launched iPhone 4s and it would take an iPhone 5 with a massive upgrade to its hardware and software to compete with the array of features the Galaxy S3 has to offer. And reports from major retailers show the handsets are flying off the shelf in numbers and Samsung may be well aware of this as apart from the millions pre-ordered the company is set to produce a few more millions a month to meet with this high demand. At the moment, only the Marble white version of the Galaxy S3 is available to buy as there has been an unexplained delay in the production of the Pebble blue version.

I woke up this morning checked my phone and realized that after searching the entire web for updates to the galaxy note, that I had a message saying firmware upgrade available to 4.0 touch wiz and s pen package!!!!! I was ecstatic. I looked at the 3 minute video many times of the upgrade features and now it is being downloaded to my phone as I type this. I got the notice at 06:30am and I am living in the Tortola, Virgin Islands UK. Wow!!!!!!! 349.38 mb of pure awesomeness!!!!

I had a similar message, but everything stopped midway. Now when I check for updates, get the no updates available message. Am I missing something here?

Depends on your service provider – 3 Mobile should get theirs over the next couple of weeks.
I’ve been running the official ICS update on the Galaxy Note for a couple of weeks, and actually I’m now searching for a way to go back to Gingerbread (GB). The ICS update has cut my battery life in half. My baseline RAM usage is now about 650MB compared to 400MB on GB. The swiping-across-the-status-bar to adjust screen brightness no longer works in ICS; now you have to click Settings, then Display, then Brightness, then adjust, unless you download an app. My main complaint is the impact on the battery life. That’s a HUGE disappointment.
