Applications are requested from suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans to fill the under mentioned position at the  Sierra Leone Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (SLEITI)

 

Position:                                            Communication Officer

Organization:                                 Sierra Leone Extractive Industries

                                                               Transparency Initiative (SLEITI)

Reports to:                                       SLEITI National Coordinator

 

Responsibilities:

Undertake a communication assessment to develop and assist with external and internal communication;

Assist with practical arrangements for internal external meetings and conferences, including the maintenance of an up-to-date contact database;

Research and draft response and deal with public enquiry;

Lead in developing creative ways to communicate progress;

Provide support in the production of SLEITI capacity building communication materials;

Provide technical support for capacity building to deepen the understanding of EITI process;

Assist in developing annual reports, write external and internal reports and funding proposals;

Assist in the preparation and communication of work plan;

Support the production of monitoring and evaluation reports for the multi-stakeholder group;

Assist in preparing briefs and reports on behalf of the multi-stakeholder group;

Build close relationship with the press and draft press briefings;

Undertake day-to-day management of the SLEITI website; including monitoring, updating  and liaising with printers and designers;

Monitor external communications,  identify and communicate SLEITI news and issues relevant to each organisation;

Manage media contact list;

Draft and issue press releases, internal notes and written material for dissemination to local media;

Manage press conferences and the SLEITI newsletter;

Create and use communication tools, handle internal list, events and updates;

Improve and maintain SLEITI image

 

Applicants must have the following key competencies & qualifications.

Five years successful experience in the field of Communication;

A degree in the following fields, namely; Communication, Public Administration or equivalent professional training, self-study/work experience in related field. A post graduate degree is an advantage.

Proven experience in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and in good governance related work

Excellent research, editing, writing and analytical skills,

Experience in the production of publications;
